Project Description
It is a single-family house in Cabrils, originally built in the early 2000s. The structure consists of load-bearing brick walls as supports, while the floors are one-way reinforced concrete.
The main objective of the client is the modernization of the house, in terms of finishes and spaces. Despite not undergoing major changes in the interior layout, the rooms win in terms of comfort by following certain strategies. The first of these is the replacement of all the finishes: the floors (exterior and interior), the walls (including tiling in the bathrooms) and the ceilings are replaced by others specifically designed for the home, providing warmth or sobriety, depending on the room. The carpentry, both interior and exterior, are also replaced by others following the same criteria.
On the other hand, some partitions are demolished: two of them in the garage and one in the kitchen (which is now the office), which allow more spacious and comfortable spaces. The old planter at the entrance to the house is also demolished, achieving a more unobstructed and open access. Some walls of the entrance are rebuilt, and a wall fireplace is built as a separation between the kitchen-dining room and the living room (which is connected to the pre-existing smoke outlet).
Finally, the exterior pergola is demolished to place a new shorter one, to achieve a wider and sunnier porch, and all the facilities are renewed. With all this, the new home, different in many ways from the original, adapts to customer requirements.
