The brief
From office to a home for two
The unit is in a mid-1970s building with a reinforced concrete column-and-slab structure and was used as an office. The clients wanted to turn it into a home for two people.
The first step was a clear brief: a simple home with generous, flexible and adaptable spaces — while meeting the change-of-use regulations that guarantee safety and comfort.
Project data
The layout
Two clearly defined zones
Lobby, storage and bathroom on one side; a large open space on the other.
Coming in from the landing there is a lobby, required by fire safety regulations, leading to a storage room of about 5 m² with a window onto the courtyard and to the rest of the home. A hallway leads to a generous 5 m² bathroom, with a level door onto the inner courtyard, and to the main space.
The main space
33 m² without partitions
Living, dining, kitchen and bedroom in a single room.
The main space brings together living, dining, kitchen and bedroom without partitions: its size and the definition of different zones give the flexibility the clients wanted. It is lit and ventilated by a large window on the main façade and a kitchen window onto the courtyard. Finishes and services are completely renewed.
