The brief
Too many halls and hallways
The flat, in a mid-1960s building with a reinforced concrete column-and-slab structure, still had its original irregular layout, with several entrance halls and hallways with unusual access.
Following the logic of everyday use and the goals of the client, a company, we proposed reorganising the spaces without moving the main rooms.
Project data
The living area
A living room that leads everywhere
The kitchen stays put and opens onto the living-dining room.
The kitchen and the living-dining room keep their positions, but the barriers between them are removed to create a single space. This space also leads to both bedrooms and the bathroom, so the corridors disappear.
Bedrooms and bathroom
Two double bedrooms and a bigger bathroom
Two small bedrooms are joined.
Two small bedrooms are joined into a new double; the other, also a double, stays as it was. By absorbing the old bedroom hallway, the bathroom is now considerably larger. All finishes and services are renewed.
