C / Farell, BARCELONA
The house is located in a building from the 30s, which has a pillar structure and a one-way reinforced concrete slab.
The client decides to reform the apartment, which still has the original layout. It seeks a change in the program of use, since the previous organization of spaces contemplated two offices, one of them with a facade to the street, and two bedrooms, one of them shared with the living room and window to the interior patio. As there is no current need on the part of the owners to have offices in the house, it is decided to install the living-dining room in the space previously occupied by them, also annexing the kitchen in the same room. Thus, a multipurpose and multifunctional room is achieved, with a large surface (25 m2) and on the main facade, with the advantages in lighting and ventilation that this implies.
On the other hand, an extension of the bathroom is achieved thanks to its movement to the place where the kitchen used to be, which almost doubles its surface. In addition, the new bedrooms are achieved by occupying the previous living room, on the one hand, and annexing the space previously occupied by the bathroom and the distributor to the other bedroom. With all this, the new rooms both exceed 10 m2, which guarantees sufficient space for the user.
Finally, it solves interior accessibility problems, by eliminating the existing step in the corridor by means of a 12% slope ramp. Facilities and interior finishes are also updated. Thanks to this, it is possible to satisfy the expectations of the client, adapting to their requirements.
